After completing his studies with Daniel Barenboim in Berlin and at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, USA, in 2002 Roberto Fabbroni was appointed Artistic Director of the Orquesta de Cámara Municipal de Rosario, a select chamber ensemble he led for the following six years. During 15 years, he also devoted great energy to the development of young musicians as Music Director of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario.
Roberto Fabbroni lives in Zurich, Switzerland since 2010. In the 2011/2012 Season he conducted the new production of Jan Dvorak's Musical "20,000 Leagues under the Sea" at the Theaters in Meiningen and Eisenach, Germany. He was Music Director of the Berner Musikkollegium for three seasons and guest conductor with the Orchestre de la Ville et de l'Université de Fribourg and the Orchestergesellschaft Zürich. From 2012 to 2015 he conducted the Summer Ensemble of the Bern University Orchestra and is currently principal guest conductor of the Orchester Konolfingen.
Since 2014 he is Music Director of the Orchester Liestal and since the end of 2019 Conductor of the Singkreis Gossau.
Born in Argentina, he studied piano and composition at the School of Music of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario and Orchestral Conducting with Juan Carlos Zorzi and Daniel Mazza. In 1995 he obtained a Master's Degree in Orchestral Conducting at the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA, where he studied with renowned teacher Frederik Prausnitz. Later, he was selected to be one of the five active participants in a Masterclass by Maestro Kurt Masur, in the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires.
Between 1996 and 1998 he resided in Berlin, after Daniel Barenboim's invitation to learn from him at Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin. During this period he also followed Maestro Barenboim's activities in the Bayreuther Festspiele and with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in the USA.
Already in 1991, he appeared as a Guest Conductor with the Orquesta Sinfónica Provincial de Rosario, and was its Assistant Conductor between 1992 and 1997, conducting the orchestra on numerous occasions in the main theatres in the province of Santa Fe, and in it's first collaboration with the Mozarteum Argentino. Since then, he has conducted orchestras in the USA, Chile and Argentina, such as the Pan American Symphony Orchestra, the Peabody Orchestra, the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Concepción (Chile), the Orquesta Sinfónica Provincial de Rosario, the Orquesta Sinfónica Provincial de Santa Fe and the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Provincia de Entre Ríos. Since his debut as an opera conductor in 2000 with Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro in Rosario's main Theatre "Teatro El Círculo", he appeared also in Puccini's La Bohème and Verdi's Nabucco.
Interested in working with contemporary composers, he premiered numerous orchestral and chamber music works by Argentinean composers Jorge Horst, Natalia Solomonoff, Diana Rud y Jorge Molina, among others.
